Lavres Safety Security Group is committed to providing a website that's usable by as many people as possible. We aim to meet or exceed the standards set by the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA.

Our commitment

Accessibility is part of how we serve our clients in person and how we serve visitors on this website. We design and build for people who use keyboards instead of a mouse, people who use screen readers, people with low vision, people on slow connections, and people who prefer reduced motion. We treat accessibility as ongoing work, not a checkbox.

Standards we follow

• WCAG 2.1 Level AA — the international standard for web accessibility, covering perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust content.
• AODA — Ontario's Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation for information and communication.
• Section 508 — the U.S. federal accessibility standard, for visitors from the United States.

What we've built in

This website includes the following accessibility features:

• Semantic HTML — pages use headings, landmarks, lists, and ARIA roles so screen readers can navigate the structure.
• Keyboard support — every interactive element is reachable and operable without a mouse.
• Skip-to-content link — keyboard users can jump past the navigation directly to the main content of each page.
• Visible focus states — keyboard focus is always visible and distinct from hover states.
• Alt text — informative images carry descriptive text alternatives. Decorative images are marked so screen readers skip them.
• Reduced motion — animations and the hero video respect the operating system's reduced-motion preference. Users who prefer reduced motion see a static frame instead of scroll-driven scrubbing.
• Color contrast — body text uses cream on near-black, which meets the WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratio with substantial headroom (4.5:1 minimum, our combination is well above that).
• Responsive design — content reflows for phones, tablets, and large displays without horizontal scrolling.
• Form labels — every contact form field has a visible label, and the form announces validation errors when something is missing or wrong.
• Logical reading order — content reads in a sensible order whether you use a screen reader, keyboard, or pointer.

Known limitations

No website is perfect, and we'd rather tell you what we're still working on than pretend otherwise. Current known limitations:

• The homepage hero uses a scroll-driven video to scrub through frames. Users who prefer reduced motion see a static poster frame instead, but the video itself does not yet have captions or a transcript.
• The FAQ accordion has keyboard support, but the focus order on some complex layouts is still being refined.
• We're working to add captions and transcripts for any future video content we publish.
• Some PDF documents we may publish in the future may not yet be tagged for full screen reader compatibility. Email us and we'll provide an accessible version on request.

If you encounter a barrier that isn't listed here, please tell us about it. We want to fix it.

Requesting alternative formats

If you need information from this site in a different format — large print, plain text, audio, Braille, or anything else — contact us and we'll provide it within a reasonable time, free of charge.

Reporting a barrier

If you encounter a part of our website that's difficult or impossible to use, please let us know. The more detail you can share, the faster we can fix it:

• What you were trying to do
• The page or feature where you ran into the barrier
• The assistive technology you were using, if any — for example NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack, or Dragon
• Your browser and device
• Your contact information so we can follow up

Continuous improvement

We review the site for accessibility on an ongoing basis as new content is added and as new features are built. Significant changes are reflected in the "last updated" date at the top of this page.

Third-party content

This website uses a small number of third-party services (Web3Forms for our contact form, hCaptcha for spam protection, Google Fonts for typography, and Vercel for hosting). We've selected providers that take accessibility seriously, but their tools are outside our direct control. If a third-party component creates a barrier for you, please let us know and we'll work with the provider or find an alternative.
